- 3rd Annual Florida Trikke Fun Ride This
years Florida Trikke Fun Ride will be held in conjunction with the
14th Annual Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochie Bike Ride. Last year
there were over 1600 registered cyclists and over 40 Trikke enthusiast
in the event. The event organizers are expecting this year to far
exceed those numbers. The ride is a "no-mass start" meaning
that you can start anytime between 7am and 9am. There's no minimum
distance required to ride but they are registering cyclist for a 100
mile ride with special recognition for their accomplishment. For our
Trikke riders we are planning on a 15 mile ride but no minimum distance
is required. Last year most riders carved out a 30 mile ride. We were
fortunate to have Gildo Beleski (Sr.
Engineer/Trikke Inventor) and Claudio Pagan (Trikke Representative)
to join us. It looks very good that they will again be joining us
this year. However, it's not 100% sure due to Gildo's schedule. At
last years event Gildo did state that our Trikke Fun Ride was probably
the best Trikke event that he's ever attended and was honored by the
camaraderie involving such avid Trikke enthusiasts. Just like last
year we will plan a social/dinner at one of the local resteraunts
where we can all acquaint and re-acquaint. This will also give you
an opportunity to initially meet Gildo and Claudio.
Last year we had
a 10 year old (Dustin Edwards) ride 40 miles on a T78-Air. And he
made his parents ride with him. It was there first time to complete
such a long distance on the Trikke. We also had Al Brown (83 years
young) who rode an astonishing 30 miles. Hats off to these two remarkable
young men! What an accomplishment and inspiration!
We're still in planning stages for this years event but I'm certain
it'll be bigger and better. Keep an eye out on our newsletters and
"Events" page for updates. You
can also find out more about the Rails to Trails on the Withlacoochie
by visiting their website. www.RailsToTrailsonline.com
UPDATE: CLICK

on the number of participants. |

April 26 &
27, 2008 - Atlantic Beach, FL (Jacksonville). 3rd
Annual First Coast Trikkes Century Ride and Annual Opening of the
Beaches Parade in Atlantic Beach, Florida. This has become
an annual event by BJ Viers with First Coast Trikke's. It starts
off with a 100 mile Trikke ride (Century Ride) on Saturday, April
26th and finishes with a Trikke ride in the 58th Annual Opening
of the Beaches Parade on Sunday, April 27th. Here are the details:
- 3rd Annual First Coast Trikkes Century Ride, Saturday,
April 26, 2008, 6:00am - This ride is a tried and proven
25 mile loop through Atlantic Beach, FL. The riders will carve
this 25 mile loop 4 times to complete the 100 miles. Averaging
9 mph it will take 11 to 13 hours depending on the length of breaks
taken after each 25 mile loop. There are only a handful of Trikke
carvers in the world to accomplish this task but with each year
more and more riders are training and pushing themselves to set
the milestones for themselves and Trikke carvers to follow. Last
year Reen Anderson became the first female in the world to accomplish
a Trikke Century Ride. This year we have one of our local female
Trikke Tampa riders going to give it a go too. We'll be there
to cheer Cindy Brown on! BJ welcomes anyone who wants to ride
all or part of the course to join in. He asks that everyone where
the proper safety gear and be sure your Trikke is rigged with
a flashing red light on the back and a helmet mounted headlight.
Bright orange reflective safety vest is recommended. The ride
starts prior to daylight and usually finishes after dark. Click
here for a course map showing the starting/ending
point and the complete route. For more information and to register
with BJ you can contact him at phone 904-343-1833 or register
by emailing jaxtrikkes@aol.com
- 58th Annual Opening of the Beaches Festival and Parade
- BJ Viers with First Coast Trikkes has organized Trikke
riders in this parade for 4 years now. It started out small the
first year and last year had almost 50 riders. It's a short, less
than 2 miles, very slow moving parade. The Trikke always intrigues
and fascinates kids and adults of all ages. For most, it's the
first time they have seen one of these machines in real life.
It's a lot of fun seeing and hearing the responses we get while
riding in the parade. Whether you're a newbie or skilled Trikke
rider this is an event for every Trikke carver to participate
in. Click
here for local news coverage of this years event.

2nd Annual Florida Trikke Fun Ride with Gildo Beleski,
October 7, 2007 -
We're really excited to have Gildo Beleski (Trikke inventor) coming
to this years event. If you've ever wanted to meet the inventor of
the Trikke then this is certainly your opportunity. You'll also have
an opportunity to ride with him and get your photo taken.
The Florida Trikke Fun Ride is held in conjunction with the Annual
Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochie Bike Ride. Last year there were
over 1500 registered cyclists in the event and the event organizers
are expecting this year to far exceed that. The ride is a "no-mass
start" meaning that you can start anytime between 7am and 9am.
There isn't a minimum distance required to ride but they are registering
cyclist for a 100 mile ride where they will get special recognition
for their accomplishment. For our Trikke riders we are planning on
a 30 mile ride but no minimum distance is required. I'm going to try
and get the Trikke riders recognized by the event for 30 miles or
more on a Trikke accomplishment. Last year we had a 9 year old (Dustin
Edwards) ride the 30 miles with us on a T6, what an accomplishment
and inspiration! Just as last year we will be providing "Rock'N
Miles Club" decals for your Trikke and distance rode. If you
want to ride further you're more than welcome. We had 1 rider that
did 50 miles and a couple (Tom and Glenda) that rode 60 miles. Glenda
rode in a long sun-dress with sandles. If you only want to ride a
short distance then be sure to bring a lawn chair so you can hang
out at the Trikke booth. You
must register with the Rails to Trails of the Withlacoochie, click
here.. Trikke Tampa is not requiring an additional fee for attending.
All Rails to Trails registration fees are used to maintain one of
America's best Rails to Trails programs. The Withlacoochie Trail has
been voted as one of the most beautiful trails in the nation.
If you
plan on attending please let us know so we can add your name to our
list and be able to accurately plan on the number attending. To get
added to the list please click on this link. |
